Work area is a necessity!

Review Date: November 12, 2009
Reviewer: James W. Norris, Chicago, IL USA
The Weber Work Table is a great addition to my outdoor grilling. It can be quickly broken-down for stoarge is light weight, sturdy and easily attaches securely to the 22.5" grill. The only draw back is that a little gap in the lid with the table attached uses up extra charcoal when I smuther the fire after cooking.
A perfect addition!

The Wber Work Table is a perfect addition to our Weber grill! It gives us plenty of work space and an area to prep foods before throwing them on the grill. A great product all around!
Great add on!

I bought this a couple of months ago and I love it! It is so convenient and (literally) snaps on. It gives you the feel of a more expensive grill without the expense.
It's nice to not have to worry about the dog getting at the sauce or to have to precariously balance the utensils on the handle (or keep everything on a table across the patio).
The only downside is that it's not as easy to move as it's not welded in but with a little experimenting I figured out how to move it no problem.
I recommend this product whole heartedly. :-)

OUTSTANDING VALUE!
Review Date: June 11, 2010
Reviewer: Craig Collins, Casper, WY USA
Yes, the WSM is a little more expensive, but this is one of those cases when you get what you pay for. Before the WSM, I had about a 25% success rate getting my low and slow BBQ to turn out. Once I got the WSM, I’m batting 1,000. I’ve never had a bad batch since….on the contrary, I’m turning out better BBQ than I’ve ever had anywhere! The construction is top quality, design is perfect, I couldn’t ask for any better. Glad I pulled the trigger and went with this one, and you will be too. Because of this purchase, I’m a loyal Weber guy from here on out. Enjoy!
Best smoker you can buy
Review Date: June 6, 2010
Reviewer: Zachary M. Klein, Covington, GA
Temperature is easily maintained at 250 degrees. Very little fooling with the vents is required to hold the temp exactly where you want. I have used sand and water in the pan and get better results with the sand. Only complaint is that the middle section does not come with built in handles but it is easy to add them yourself. Grease control is a minor issue - sometimes it will come out of the bottom vents a little. Other than those minor things, this smoke is truly Weber quality and looks like it is built to last a life time. The smoker is HUGE - you can fit 4 racks of untrimmed spare ribs in it if you lay them down. It takes 3/4 of a 20 pound bag of charcoal to maintain 250 degrees for about 12 hours so it’s important to fill the smoker with meat every time you fire it off, otherwise you just waste charcoal. Also, it comes with a cover which was not in any of the information I read, so don’t waste your time looking for a cover like I did.
awsome

Weber OTG + Cajun Bandit = Better WSM
Review Date: April 14, 2010
Reviewer: Henry Succop, Miami, FL USA
For those of you who are considering purchasing the 22.5 WSM, I would like to recommend an alternative which results in an improved WSM. Instead of buying the WSM, purchase the 22.5 Weber One Touch Gold (OTG) Kettle Grill and then buy the conversion kit from a company called Cajun Bandit. Cajun Bandit sells a conversion kit that lets you convert a Weber 22.5 kettle grill into a WSM. You end up getting a better smoker at a lower total cost. The OTG retails for about $150 and the Cajun Bandit sells for about $200. You still end up with the same smoker configuration but with the following advantages:

1. The Weber OTG has a single vent with a long handle at the bottom instead of three rotating vents disks that get hot. Having one vent makes regulating temperature much easier than fiddling with three vents.
2. The OTG comes with the ash pot on the bottom making for easier cleanup.
3. The Cajun Bandit’s access door is stainless steel and fits air tight.
4. You can still use the OTG as a charcoal grill so you get two for one.

I am not posting a link to Cajun Bandit but you can find them by searching.

With the Cajun Bandit conversion kit I would rate the setup five stars instead of four.

Best Smoker for the money

This is the best smoker available in this price range. I’ve been cooking and winning with the 18″ model since 2002. The big free bonus is great internet websites that will help you answer every question you have. 4″ difference may not seem like a lot but in reality it’s twice as big as the 18″ and will hold twice the meat. Unless you never ever plan on cooking for more than a small group the 22″ is a better choice than the 18″. I only have two complaints. Amazon is bundling this with a cover, when every WSM ships with a FREE quality cover from Weber. Some of the Amazon bundling makes no sense like this cover or batteries that are the wrong size bundled with a product. The side door is a good fit but would be better is it was a 1/2″ wider. You need to pay attention that it is not slipping in the opening when you latch it. It may not look like a classic smoker but the WSM can cook all night un-refueled and the classic looking smokers in this price range can not do that straight out of the box. This is first and foremost a smoker that will cook amazing Brisket, Ribs and Pork.
I Love it so much I wish I could justify buying another one

Reviewer: Steven Miller,
This is my 4th smoker. I have used electric, offset coal/wood, and gas powered, and by far I love my WSM the most. This smoker is easy to use and maintain consistent temperatures in. The 22.5 in has plenty of capacity. If you aren’t sure this is the smoker for you check out the virtualweberbullet website which has great info and a forum full of fans and you will know.

I would love to buy another one I am such a fan I just can’t use that much meat fast enought.

Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker makes great food!

I gave this cooker to my son for Christmas and he loves it and is constantly making something on it. We live a short distance away so he brings me the fruits of his labor and they are goooood! He made a little cart for his cooker so he could store it in the garage. Works great! Incidently shipping only took like 2 days. Speedy!

ive had a few water smokers over the years. and this is a big step up. study construction, good quality temp gauge, snug fitting lid so the heat doesnt escape. the vents make it very easy to keep the temp nice and steady and the design of the fire pot keeps the coals burning without smothering.
he’s a beast! i did two boston butts and two split chickens first time i used it. could have done twice as much. its nice not to have to try and cram everything together to get it on the grates. the waterpan is 19 inches wide. so you wont have any ribs hangin over the side of it on the bottom grate getting scorched by direct heat from the coals. i’ve been a big fan of the weber kettle grills for a long time, so this was the obvious choice for me.
oh and by the way. mine came with a nice weber cover for it in the box. i didnt have to order one.
Excellent Smoker

I bought a Brinkman Split-Door Smoker at Wal-Mart for around $70 in November, and I could not get that thing to hold its temperature to save my life. I tried cooking a 6 lbs pork shoulder, and after 12 hours (and a bag and a half of lump charcoal later), the meat’s internal temp was only around 135 degrees. I gave up and finished it in the oven. I got the WSM 22-1/2″ for Christams and kicked the Brinkman to the curb. With this smoker, it’s set it and forget it. I smoked two pork shoulders last week with the weather in the teens and low twenties and windy, and once I got it going, it held its temp. and required very little monitoring or adjusting. It’s more expnesive than the Brinkman, but well worth the money.
Awesome Smoker

This smoker is great. If you want to be able to cook a large amount of food at once and be able to control your temperature well, you need this smoker! It is high quality and yet very easy to use.

Great Product with a minor flaw

Review Date: October 27, 2009
Reviewer: Robert J. Paolini,
I really like this grill. Overall its a winner. It was simple to put together. The grill cooks evenly and gives you six burners to have on or off when grilling. The only minor item that I am not thrilled with are the knobs. I wish they were a little more solid. They are made out of a light plastic and just doesn't feel solid enough for this grill. Again, this is a minor issue as the rest of the grill is great.
I LOVE this Weber

Review Date: July 17, 2009
Reviewer: Chino, Miami, FL USA
The Summit S-620 is their "cheapest" top of the line chassis. This grill does not include the smoker box and hidaway rotisserie that the S-650/670 have nor does it have the sear burner that the S-670 has. However, the add-on rotisserie is $[...] from Weber, the smoker box another $[...] or so. You really don't need a "sear burner". Just preheat the grill properly and it'll do the trick.

For starters, this grill gets hot! I misread the temp gauge the 1st time I fired her up and got her up to almost 400 degrees C! That's almost 750 degrees F! Yipes. Glad I didn't melt her down on day 1. Flame control is excellent (low really means low) and the grill is able to do a good job of indirect grilling with just the two outside burners. No control issues grilling steaks, chops, chicken, fish, or vegetables.

Added features like grill out lights (useful after dark) and the tank "fuel gauge" are helpful.

Construction is sturdy. The cart itself is mostly stainless steel and porcelain enameled steel, the grill box appears to be mostly cast aluminium and porcelain enameled steel. Assembly took me 30 mins (solo job and almost tool-less).

Only 2 complaints. The grease trap feels cheap. The edges on the stamped steel parts are sharp and unfinished. And, it is VERY expensive. [...]
Overall, I paid what I paid for the Weber name (and their support) and a fantastically designed grill. I could not be happier!
Mega!

Mind you, I am at Granddaddy age, and planning for the numbers gathering, but this is a fabulous grill. Each burner has its own starter/lighter, and you can isolate anywhere on the grill if only using 2 or 3 burners, rather than all 6. Side burner is outstanding. My last grill lasted 20 years. This one .... last one. Wow!
I love it!

This is the perfect BBQ for me. I didn't need the rotisserie so I chose this model. The heat is even and the cooking service will handle even the biggest barbeques at our lake house. Solid construction and beautiful, also. It was delivered in perfect condition and the delivery people were very accomodating.
Another great Weber product

Reviewer: David J. Bishop,
Recently purchased a Weber S-620. Another great Weber product. I tried a top of the line Sears stainless steel grill two years ago, but began having issues within one year. I won't make the same mistake again, and will just stay with Weber. You truly do get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Great grill for most grilling needs

Review Date: December 17, 2009
Reviewer: Yoda,
I have owned this grill for just over a year, and use it at least once a week, more in the summer, and I even use it the winter (I live in Avon, OH, so I have grilled in temps as low as the mid-teens). A few good points: It lights all the time every time on one or two clicks of the auto-ignitor. This is really great and saves a lot of hassle dealing with matches. Natural gas is wonderful, as no more propane tanks to deal with. The finish is top notch (but for this price I wish the back was also stainless steel). The smoker box is really a nice feature (I usually use hickory soaked in water and get a good 15 minutes of hickory smoke from a filled smoker box). The rotisserie works well when using the rear infrared burner (I have used it for large beef roasts and chickens). One of the best features are the thick stainless steel grates - no rust and they clean up perfectly every time and provide great consistent grill marks! The grease trap works flawlessly, and I feel very healthy when I empty out all the grease that collects in the trap! Also, since the unit is completely sealed, there is not greasy grill mess or particles that collect on the patio around the grill - it is very neat and tidy to cook on.

A few nits: The side burner runs too hot, in general. It is a poor quality burner and will burn and boil sauces too quickly, even on the lowest setting. It works, just not as good as one would expect at this price point. The main burners, in my opinion, could be a bit hotter, but only for the searing function when cooking steaks. It gets plenty hot, trust me, but it does not quite produce the level of searing on steaks as I would like, but it is very close. If searing is really important it might be best to get the model with the infrared searing burner. Also, the NG hose could be a few feet longer, at least for my application.

My cooking experience is very positive with this grill. I always had cheap grills and was always frustrated with the lack of temperature control. With this grill I get very precise temperature control all the time. I must say that in general I have never burned anything and things like chicken breast come out nice and juicy. Cooking results are very consistent, and I tend to cook very precisely based on time and temperature. For consistency I always let foods sit out for a few minutes so they are not too cold directly from the refrigerator - this is very important. I find I get best results by lighting all the burners and keep them all on low, as this sets a good baseline temperature, and then adjusting individual burners as needed. For example, a 1" thick steak is cooked to my liking by searing/cooking on high for 5 minutes on each side, then turning down to low and cooking for 3 more minutes on each side. I can pretty much predict the outcome by using trial and error to figure out what works for my desired cooking results. I also have cooked delicate pork tenderloin roasts with the indirect heat method (lower burners either side with cool burner in the middle) and they come out great). I have cooked about 16 burgers at once for large crowds, and the temperature control is a real party-saver in situations like this that require lots of monitoring. I have not had a bad result (again, start out slow with modest amounts of food to calibrate how this grill works in terms of temperature, heating, searing, etc.). I thought I would use the rotisserie and the side burner more, so in hindsight I could probably have saved some jingle by forgoing these features. Overall, this grill rocks and it blows away any grill I have ever owned (and I have had my share of them over the years).
