Short Answer - We LOVE our Weber Q!
We have a 1.5-year-old Weber Q (before they went to the “hundreds” series of branding) and just love it. For change-in-lifestyle reasons, it took over the heavy grilling from a 22″ charcoal Weber Performer that is currently in storage.
Even before we transitioned from the charcoal Weber to the Weber Q we’ve been using the cookout calculator at charcoalbob.com. to calculate grilling times for steaks, boneless chicken breasts, pork chops, etc. with great results.
We took the Weber Q out of the box, heated it to high for the 7-10 minutes and then set the dials to medium as recommended for most direct-medium fire recipies (350°F to 375°F) and the calculations from charcoalbob.com have been right on the money.
The design of the Weber Q is brilliant in a couple of ways. Our model is very portable (so that we can still cookout in an apartment by easily setting it up the required distance away from our building). And, since it uses the actual shell surface of the grill itself to vaporize the juices from the items being grilled (which actually creates the grilled flavor), it’s really easy to clean and store between cookouts.
Hope this is helpful.

I purchased a small townhouse and I’m looking for a quality grill that wouldn’t take up too much space.

So we decided to get a Weber grill but have questions about some of the differences between different models of Weber grills. I checked Weber’s website and they have no information about the following::
1. One type of grill has a “crossover” ignition, while the other type has an “electronic crossover” ignition. What’s a “crossover ignition” and what’s the difference between the two different types of ignitions?
2. One grill has porcelain enameled cooking grates, while the other has porcelain coated cast iron. When the grill has porcelain enameled cooking grates, what material does the porcelain enamel cover?
3. Is a sideburner worth the extra cost?
Thanks for the help.

We have a large grill (33′ wide box) and want to buy a rotisserie. Any brand advice? Saw universal, weber (will that work on a non-weber grill?) and Charbroil…
Thanks!

Try the store where you bought it. Or try Ace or Sears for replacement parts and service.
