The flame needs to be relatively blue and uniform around the perimeter of the burner. Blue flame is hot, orange flame is cold.
Remove the burner and use a wirebrush to clean the burner surface. use a paper clip or something to poke through every hole in the burner and then blow it out with compressed air if you have it available. Do not use a drill! You could expand the size of the holes, and you definitely don’t want to do this. Inspect the burner to make sure none of the seams have rotted away or are seperating.
Spiders love propane! Use a thin piece of wire to poke up through the tubes that run between the burner and the orifices at the control valves. You might pull out a web. The propane goes through these tubes at a pretty low pressure so it doesn’t take much to restrict or stop the flow of gas. There is also a possibility that the regulator is defective or the hose has collapsed. If the above things don’t work you might try a replacement regulator. Good Luck!
