| I have had my Smokey Joe Silver for 6 years and I have used it every summer of those 6 years. Small and light weight perfect for camping and tailgating. I have even taken it on the boat. Works perfect for me everytime. I actually chose this one over the gold version due to the gold one not having a vent or an ash catcher on the bottom. This is the best little charcoal bbq in my opinion. |

I'm still attached to my Brinkmann's Smoke and Grill, but after 13 years, it's had it. My cousin raves over Weber grills. I've never owned a one, but decided to try this inexpensive model. The Smokey Joe is relatively lightweight, but has a very durable feel. The cooking grate is extremely sturdy. It was a breeze to put together....only 5 minutes. No tools, except one Phillip head screw needs to be driven in the handle. No tools needed to attach the legs and the vents come pre attached.
This one gets very hot, holds it's heat, uses little charcoal and cooks very well. This little grill can served up low and slow, tender cooked meats, without flareups. The manufacturer suggest letting the hot grill burn, with the lid on for 30 minutes, before using the first time. The instruction/receipe booklet has a really great receipe for fresh mozzarella stuffed red peppers. It was delicious!
It a very nice grill and cooks like a "real grill". Previously, I purchased a 10. "pretender" from my local Walgreens. It was a cute little grill, but it was so flimsly and the cooking grate was almost sitting on top of the charcoal. It had no depth and my poor burgers were crispy charred. I trashed that one after the first use.
This grill easily held 6 handmade burgers...approx 4oz each or 8 chicken wings and 8 drumsticks or five, 8oz ribeye steaks. I believe it will hold one baby back rib. It's a great grill for it's size, but I am going to buy another Brinkmann's Smoke and Grill for my ribs. Thanks Amazon for fast delivery. |

| Great grill! Gets real hot so you don't need to use half the coals you think you will! Took me awhile to learn this...It really cooks with very few coals! |

| This is our second Smokey Joe. Our first one started losing the rivets that hold the vents in place. I think 13 years of heavy duty use should say alot about Weber products. We have owned three so far. Buy this for small and quick grilling and smoking. You will LOVE this product. I did the super saver shipping and from the time I ordered to the time it was at my door, three days! Amazon ROCKS! |

Best Grill For The Price Range

Probably the best grill for this price range! Got one for my parents and compares well with my Weber 18" for grilling! My only nit pick are the legs! You may have to tighten them down from time to time to keep the wobble out! But, back to grilling! This is one nice little unit, burgers and steaks cook up quite nicely! The secret is knowing how to use the upper and lower vents for heat and smoke adjustments! Once you have that down, you can whip up some serious munch with this puppy! Have done some excellent k-bob's and burgers and steaks have come out just as nicely! Have used Webers hickory chips for smoked meats and the flavor was delicious!
After each use, clean out ashes and you will have consistant bbq! Put a piece of aluminum foil in the ash pan to catch the ashes! Wrap it up and dispose of neatly. To help season the upper and lower grills and get rid of that metal taste and smell, I placed the grills in my oven! Preheated to 325 degs. and baked for about an hour! House stunk like hot steel for awhile, but no metal taste, the first time I used this grill! |
Good enough

Good enough for my purpose, I do not need big industrial size grills to impress people anyway.
I used the grill 3-4 times since I bought it last month.Walmart price is 29.99 plus tax.I wish I bought it at amazon.
I did not know this brand was so famous before buying this.I was about to get a made-in-China grill at half the price.Good that I have not. This works well, easy to operate, easy to clean, sturdy construction. Most important of all it is made in USA. |
Smokey Joe Silver is the way to go - Bottom vents matter

| When I started looking at these grills I almost immediately went with the gold. I figured that the portability was worth the extra 5 bucks, but when I looked further I found that the gold does not have the bottom vents which are a major part of the Weber design. Because of the vents and because I don't really need the grill to be portable (although it could be easily placed in a plastic bag and transported) I went with the Silver and I have been very pleased with my purchase. It can easily feed four people and I have found that even after I have cooked the first batch i can then cook a second using the charcoal I started with. This is very economical. I also recommend the addition of a charcoal chimney starter as this will save money in the long run through savings on charcoal starter fluid. Happy grilling. |
The best deal in grilling....hands down.

| The Smokey Joe is the greatest. Easy to use, easy to maintain temperature. This one is a lot better than the 40020 model. That one has the bottom vent on the side as opposed to the bottom and cooks VERY unevenly according to my brother who has that one. You can cook for 4 people on this grill. Ever since I got this, the 22" kettle hardly ever gets used. The 22 is now used for beer can chicken and company and that's it! ! ! I find it important to rotate the lid while cooking, which allows the air to blow across all the coals and keeps them burning evenly. |
