What Do I Have To Do To Change A Natural Gas Outdoor Grill To Propane?
I have a new grill but it is natural gas. I want to take it to the country and I need propane.
What do I do? It is a Weber. Thanks to anyone with help.

On the back of the grill or down on the legs of it will be a rating plate… You need to get the manufacturer’s model and serial number off of there. Contact the manufucaturer and get a proper conversion kit from them. If they do not offer a conversion kit, then it is game over! You cannot convert it! If they do offer you a conversion kit it can be installed by any competent gas fitter and they will set it up to burn properly for you.
Many years ago we could just change orifices and “McGyver” appliances to change them from one fuel to the other. Those days are long gone! The conversion kit will come with a new rating plate that states the fuel is approved for propane now, rather than natural gas. This is extremely important! If you do not have that rating plate attached, and the appliance is involved in a fire, the first thing the authorities will determine is that you have “altered” the appliance. The manufacturer will take no responsibility and YOU will be liable for any injuries or property damage as a result. I’ve seen several cases of insurance claims being denied because of this very fact!! No kidding!! One was a 4500 square foot house that burned right to the ground! The homeowner got nothing from insurance…
Unless it is a high end expensive grill, you are probably better off just buying a new grill and selling that one unfortunately… Ranges and some furnaces come with a conversion kit, so it is no big hassle, but grills are not shipped that way…

Yes you can purchase a conversion kit online or walmart or sears.
Make sure to expel all the gas first. I am sure you know to keep your hands and face away from the gas while emptying the tank?

you have change the gas jets. i think you need to go smaller. And probably get a new regulator for the propane tank
You have to get a new orifice for propane to replace the one for natural gas.
